Healthcare in the U.S. compared to other industrialized and western countries is much more expensive.


Statistics

  • Hospitals are profit centers accounting for 33% of health care cost

  • a birth here on average is $11,000 while in the Netherlands it is $7,000.

  • Healthcare workers in America are paid more than in other countries. An example is nurses make an average of $75,000 in the U.S. and $58,000 in the Netherlands.

  • Prices across the U.S. vary widely and there are no set prices like some other countries have.

  • Another reason is hospitals citing administrative costs which in the U.S. account for 8% of spending while in other countries it's 1%-3%.
